Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what information Home Pros Guru collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. It applies to everyone who uses the Platform: homeowners browsing the directory and contractors with an account.

1. Information We Collect

Account information. When you register, we collect your name, email address, and password. Contractor accounts additionally provide business information: business name, phone, website, license number, service categories, service areas, and any photos, credentials, or descriptions submitted for the listing.

Payment information. If a contractor upgrades to a paid membership, billing is handled by our payment processor, Stripe. We do not store full card numbers on our own servers. Stripe processes and stores that information under its own privacy and security standards.

Usage information. Like most websites, we automatically collect some technical information when you visit (pages viewed, browser and device type, and general location inferred from IP address) to help us understand how the Platform is used and to keep it secure.

2. How We Use Information

We use the information we collect to: operate and maintain your account; review and approve contractor listings; display listings to homeowners; send account-related notifications (verification, approval status, billing receipts); respond to support requests; and detect and prevent fraud, duplicate listings, and abuse of the Platform.

3. When We Share Information

We don't sell your personal information. We share information only with the service providers that help us run the Platform (for example, Stripe for billing, our email delivery provider for account notifications, and our hosting provider) and only to the extent needed for them to provide that service. We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect the safety, rights, or property of Home Pros Guru, our users, or the public.

A contractor's business information (business name, description, categories, service areas, photos, and contact details submitted for the listing) is, by design, shown publicly on the directory once the listing is approved. That's the purpose of the listing.

4. Cookies

We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember your preferences, and understand how the Platform is used. You can control cookies through your browser settings; disabling them may affect parts of the site that require you to be signed in.

5. Data Retention

We keep account and listing information for as long as the account is active. If you close your account, we retain the minimum information necessary to comply with legal, tax, or fraud-prevention obligations, and delete or anonymize the rest within a reasonable period.

6. Your Choices

You can review and update most of your account and listing information directly from your dashboard. To request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information, contact us at the email below. We'll respond within a reasonable time.

7. Children's Privacy

The Platform is intended for people who are at least 18 years old. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

8. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect the information we hold, including encrypted connections and access controls. No system is completely secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. If we make a material change, we'll update the "Last updated" date on this page.
